Hotel Group (AHG) announced they are organising the inaugural Avillion Coast-to-Coast
Interstate Ride 2015 which is set to take place on Sunday, 4th
October 2015. This is an interstate leisure cycling event that will be flagged
off at Avillion Legacy Melaka and ends at Avillion Admiral Cove, Port Dickson.
The
objectives to introduce this event are to promote sports tourism for Melaka and
Negeri Sembilan and to support the government’s call to promote a healthy lifestyle.
This is a point-to-point leisure ride which is open to all types of bicycles
including road bikes, mountain bikes, folding bikes and all other non-motorised
two wheelers with brakes.
The
cyclists will cover the distant of approximate of 82km of which 80% will be the scenic
coastal route from Melaka to Port Dickson passing several historical and popular landmarks like Makam Hang Tuah, the burial ground of the great
warrior located in Tanjung Kling. The cyclists will then come in into the
quaint village by Pantai Puteri a popular stretch of beach that attracts both locals
and tourists alike during holiday seasons.

Hutan
Rekreasi Sungai Udang, another landmark along the route, a home to many of
species of flora and fauna. This rainforest park is spans 335 hectares.
Further
along the route, the cyclists will pass by the Pusat Pengurusan Penyu, which was
established in 1990, to serve as centre in protecting, hatching and nurturing the
sea turtles in the area.

Targeting
sports enthusiasts and health-conscious audience, the event promotes outdoor
lifestyle with healthy activity that helps improve physical fitness, lose
weight and reduce stress. “Cycling is not just about leisure and sports. It is
also one of the most effective ways to reduce stress and release tension, be it
from work, study or any other source of tension,” she added.
As closing
date for entries was 30 August, this inaugural event has managed to secure 655
participants with the majority from Selangor and Kuala Lumpur. Also joining the
leisure ride are 37 participants from Singapore and expatriates working in the
region.
The
Avillion Coast-To-Coast Interstate Ride 2015 is supported by partners and
sponsors include Tourism Malaysia, Attaque, 100 Plus, Titanium Cycling Team,
Bike Wheelers, Sunplay, Amain-T, Proviton, Salonpas, Eagle Brand, Bruschette
Maretti and Meiji.
